Hello, my name is Holly Merritt…welcome to my blog!

Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Holly Merritt.  I was born and raised in Knox City, Texas, a VERY small town in the western part of the state.  I currently reside in the Dallas/Fort Worth metro area where I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a wife, a mother of two boys, a baker, and in love with Jesus.  I have worked for many years as a social worker in both the medical field and in child welfare throughout my years, until my life took a drastic change…

In 2016, my professional career came to a quick halt after my position at a non-profit organization was eliminated due to the re-organization of the infra-structure.  While I loved being a social worker, a director, and being a part of a wonderful network of loving people, God had different plans for me.  What could have been seen as an “interruption” was an answer to prayer.

The very morning that I was informed of my layoff, was the very morning I prayed a simple prayer (while driving to work!).  I prayed, “Lord, I’m ready to go to the next level in my walk with You.” After I gathered a few of my belongings from my office a few hours later and began my drive back home, God reminded me of my words.

God knew exactly what I needed.  He knew that I would have never quit my job.  He knew I would have never made the decision to stay at home and not work outside of the home.  His word says, “Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand.  His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:7) Both my husband and myself were living in the peace that this scripture describes (a miracle in itself!).  We were not worried about provision, but were “excited” about where this would take us as a family.  His plan was perfect.

Since that day, I have grown in so many ways.  I am enjoying serving my family.  I have a small home bakery business (you can check out my Facebook page at Sweet Cakes by Holly).  And God has taken me to the “next level” in my walk with Him just as I had asked. Follow me in my journey as I share my testimony, God’s goodness, and insight through this new adventure!
